I had the wonderful opportunity to attend BYU education week the past two days with my mom. We had a great time trotting around campus attending classes on nutrition, marriage, service, house cleaning, house organizing, and Abraham Lincoln. I'm home now and feel so motivated to change some things in my life.
1. I can't wait to dig into my house and de-clutter and organize my life. I bought the teachers book, and I'm sure from taking one class and reading a book I'll be an expert and my house will be immaculate :)
2. We took an incredible class on service. It really hit home with me, reminding me that true religion is service to your fellowmen. It also brought me back to reality about the things that are really important in this life. The teacher taught from Isaiah 58, a beautiful chapter on service and the true law of the fast. One of my favorite quotes was by Abraham Lincoln, "To ease another's heartache is to forget one's own." It was a truly inspiring class.
3. The marriage classes reminded me that I need to have more compassion for my husband. One teacher explained that to strengthen your marriage you have to strengthen your relationship with heavenly Father. More patients, love, and kind words need to be spoken and less frustration, anger, and resentfulness. It was a great class, and I am truly blessed to have such a wonderful husband.
All in all it was a wonderful two days. I feel like my cup is full, and what a great feeling that is. I was so happy to have been able to spend that time with my mom. Thanks mom for taking me with you!

Thanks for sharing Amanda. I could use a spiritual kick in the pants :) My dad was a teacher at education this week. I would have loved to attend as well.
Education week sounds more and more like a good idea now that i'm a mom, wife and so busy! Maybe i'll have to go with my mom next year! What a fun way to spend time with them!
What a great time that must have been. I love attending classes like that that just inspire me to be better. How nice to go with your mom too. What a good mom to take you with her. Maybe I should take my mom next year. It would be a fun thing to do together. Glad you had a good time!
I am so glad (and a little jealous)that you were able to go to education week. Hopefully I will be able to come with you next time. I may need to borrow your cleaning book when you are done; I could definitely use some inspiration in that area of my life. So does this change your opinion of BYU? I remember when you and some of your Utah State friends would make fun of BYU!!
That was inspiring just to read your few paragraphs! Now I want more... I'm glad that you had the opportunity to go and do that with your mom. It's always nice when something can give you so much motivation and inspiration. Thanks for a great post!
Oh Amanda...as far as Kimball's taste in women...you know the song "I Like My Women Just A Little On The Trashy Side"? That is his taste. The more make-up, jewelry, and tight fitting clothes the better!!! It is hilarious and embarrassing at the same time.
Amanda, you need to post pictures of your new car!!
Those sounds like some really great classes. I wish I could have come down, maybe next year. (I saw your blog on your facebook page, love all your photos of your little girl!)
