On Wednesday November 11, Gabriella smiled for the first time. It was in the morning and it was the cutest full mouth smile. Since then she continuously tries to smile every time she is awake and you talk to her.
That sweet little girl loves to have someone talk to her. She especially loves to cuddle close in your chest and right up into your neck. I absolutely love that she is so cuddly. She loves Kate so much. Whenever she is awake she looks around until she finds Kate and then stares at her no matter where Kate moves to. Kate returns the love by piling her toys up all over Gabriella. Often when Gabriella is awake and happy I will lay her on the couch and then run around like a mad woman trying to get at least one thing accomplished for the day. I'll come back a few minutes later to see all of Kate's horses, dogs, and books piled all around Gabriella. Poor Gabriella, she is so patient with Kate even when Kate grabs her head and talks 1 inch from her face. She never cries, just enjoys every minute she gets to spend with her sister. She also hates to be alone. If she is awake she is as happy as can be as long as someone is with her talking to her and interacting. The second I leave the room or Kate leaves to go play with something she starts to get fussy. She just wants to be where the action is and can't stand being left alone. I don't blame her I wouldn't want to be left alone if I were her. I can just tell she is going to be much more excited to start being mobile. Unlike Kate who didn't crawl until 10 1/2 months, I bet this little girls does it much sooner.
The other night she was having a hard time due to a cold she contracted from the rest of us. She was fussy and crying most of the day. It was a welcome relief when Matt walked in the door form work. I quickly handed her over to him and he tried and tried to get her to calm down. She just kept screaming and screaming. He finally gave up and handed her back to me at which point she instantly stopped crying. We both kind of looked at each other and thought, wow, that was a strange coincidence. Then it happened 2 more times that night. By the last time I was laughing hysterically and Matt was insulted. It made me laugh so hard because Matt prides himself on being patient and being able to calm a crying baby with his "energy" he is constantly telling me, "You just need patience and love and they will stop crying." That little girl loves her mama that is for sure.
She is sleeping better but still has some hard nights. Thanks to Matt I'm finally getting the rest that I needed. He has been such a great help to me. I was a little worried he wouldn't bond with Gabriella or wouldn't have much interest in holding her. He has completely proved me wrong. He told me he loves night time because that is the one time he gets to hold her and spend time with just him and her. I probably don't tell Matt enough how much I love him and what an amazing father and husband he is. But I really do appreciate all he does for our family. He is a wonderful man and I can't even imagine my life without him. He keeps me happy, shows me that life is not that serious and is always looking on the bright side of things. He is my best friend, my rock, and I am so happy to have him by my side not only for this life but for eternity.
To sum it all up, I love my family.

You do have a great family. I am glad that Matt is helping you get the sleep that you need. And that is so fun that Gabriella is starting to smile. You'll have to try to capture it so the rest of us can see it too.
