Growing Up

Since Gabriella has begun talking she has really "found her voice." She suddenly seems more confident and independent than ever. Part of me has rejoiced over her new accomplishments and part of me wishes she was still a sweet little baby I could cuddle in my arms again. Having kids grow up is all so bittersweet.

With her new independence she's become quite the little stinker getting into anything and everything. I thought she was bad about that stuff before but nothing holds a candle to the things this child is capable of now. She throws really great screaming fits on the floor when she doesn't get exactly what she wants when she wants it. She takes leftovers from any meal and scrubs them into her hair, along with all over her face. I think her turning 2 is going to be a fun year for us all.

We recently moved Gabriella to a "Big Girl Bed" which was a nightmare at first. But it seems a trip to California and sleep in a pack-n-play cured her of any late night playing in her room or screaming when she was put in the bed. She now goes to sleep with no problems and even put herself to bed today for her nap.

She's also started to want to sit on the potty, I've obliged and let her a few times but I keep having nightmares of how long potty training took with Kate and am hesitant to jump back into it.

On a funnier note I found Kate and Gabriella playing, Gabriella was upset over something Kate was saying. I happened to walk into the room to find Gabriella yelling and pointing at the corner, "Timeot Kaye!" "Timeot!" Now if she could only get Kate to listen to her...

For as much trouble as this little one causes these days there is not one thing I would change about her. She has this unique ability to connect with people and make anyone smile. She's sweet when playing with other little kids and always makes sure they have toys to play with. It's amazing how I can be so frustrated with her in one moment when I'm cleaning crayon off the walls, the table, the doors, but one smile and "I sowee" from her and my heart melts. Thanks for being who you are Gabriella we love every bit of you.
